These terms govern your use of the Motherland Legal Consultancy Center website and the tools, articles and booking features it provides. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Where you engage us to act for you, the engagement letter you sign takes priority over these terms for that matter.
1. Using this website
You may browse the site, use the self-service tools and download resources for your own personal or internal business use. You must be at least 18 years old to book a consultation or submit an enquiry on your own behalf. We may suspend or withdraw any part of the site without notice, for example for maintenance or to correct content.
2. Information, not legal advice
Everything published on this site, including procedure guides, legal code summaries, articles, glossary entries, checklists and answers from the Ask Legal Guide tool, is general information about the law in Nepal. It is not legal advice, does not take account of your circumstances and should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified advocate. Legal texts shown here are simplified demonstration content and are not official sources. Read the full Legal Disclaimer.
3. No attorney-client relationship until engagement
Using the site, submitting the contact form, booking a consultation or exchanging emails with us does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only when we have completed a conflict check and both you and we have signed an engagement letter setting out the scope of work and fees. Until then, please do not send us confidential information beyond what is needed to describe your enquiry, and do not assume we are protecting a deadline on your behalf.
4. Consultations, bookings and cancellations
- A consultation booking is a request; it is confirmed only once you receive a confirmation email or call from our office.
- Consultations may be held by video, phone, in writing or in person at our Kathmandu office, as selected at booking.
- You may reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment. Cancellations inside 24 hours, or missed appointments, may be charged the consultation fee.
- If an advisor becomes unavailable we will offer an alternative time or advisor, or a full refund of any prepaid fee.
- Consultations are limited to the time booked. Any follow-up work is quoted separately.
5. Fees and payment
Consultation fees are displayed before you confirm a booking and are quoted in Nepali rupees. Fees for further work are agreed in writing before that work starts. Government fees, stamp duties, court fees and other disbursements are charged at cost and itemised separately. Invoices are payable within 15 days unless the engagement letter says otherwise. Fee figures shown in procedure guides are indicative ranges only.
6. Intellectual property
The text, illustrations, tools, checklists and design of this site belong to Motherland Legal Consultancy Center or our licensors and are protected by the Copyright Act, 2059 and international copyright law. You may print or save pages for personal reference and share links freely. You may not republish, sell or systematically copy our content, or use it to train automated systems, without written permission. Statutory texts remain the property of the Government of Nepal.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false information or impersonate another person when booking or contacting us;
- use the site to harass, threaten or defame anyone, including through the comment or enquiry features;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, scrape the site at scale or interfere with its operation;
- upload material that infringes someone else's rights or contains malicious code.
8. Third-party links
We link to government portals, court websites and other resources for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Nepali law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on general information published on this site, from interruptions or errors in the site, or from the actions of third parties. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for professional negligence in respect of work carried out under a signed engagement letter, which is governed by that letter and the applicable professional rules.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. Any dispute about the website that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu District. Before starting proceedings, we ask that you contact us so we can try to resolve the matter directly.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
