Advocate · Family Law Lead
Available this weekFamily law advocate focused on settlements that protect children and keep families out of years of litigation.
Reduced rate available for legal-aid referrals.
Sunita has spent twelve years in family law, representing clients in divorce, child custody, maintenance and property-partition proceedings before the District Courts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. Roughly half of her matters now settle through mediation, an outcome she actively works toward because she has seen what a five-year contested divorce does to a family's finances and its children.
She also advises on adoption, guardianship and inheritance under the Muluki Civil Code, and she has a particular interest in the rights of women in property partition following divorce. She volunteers with a legal aid clinic in Kirtipur one afternoon a month.
Approach
Sunita listens first, then explains the options in plain Nepali or English, including the ones that do not involve court. She is honest about timelines and about what a judge is likely to order, so clients can weigh a negotiated settlement against a contested hearing with realistic expectations.
