Advocate · Intellectual Property & Contracts
Available this weekIP and contracts advocate who protects brands at the Department of Industry and writes agreements that survive a dispute.
Sanjay handles trademark, copyright and design registrations at the Department of Industry and the Nepal Copyright Registrar's Office, along with commercial contract drafting and disputes. He has filed over 400 trademark applications for Nepali manufacturers, restaurants, software companies and foreign brands entering the Nepali market, and he has run opposition proceedings on both sides.
His contracts practice grew out of his IP work: clients who had registered a brand needed licensing, franchise, distribution and software development agreements that actually reflected Nepali law rather than a template downloaded from abroad. He now spends about half his time on each.
Approach
Sanjay believes a good contract anticipates the argument you will have in two years and settles it now. He drafts in plain language, keeps definitions tight, and always includes a dispute-resolution clause that a Nepali court or arbitrator can actually apply.
